Your eyes wander across the snow-covered glacier of Kitzsteinhorn. Your hands touch the green grass on Schmittenhöhe. The Alpine inns pamper the palate with culinary delights from Pinzgau. And with every breath you can smell the fresh air of the health resort Zell am See. To cut a long story short: holidays in Zell am See and Kaprun are a highlight for all your senses. Hold on! Didn't we miss one? That's right. For some months now, the region caters the sense of hearing as well. Zell am See-Kaprun is one of the first tourism destinations to offer its own podcast. All you need to appreciate this service is access to the World Wide Web. On the region's website you can listen to the radio broadcasts any time you like or download and transfer them to a MP3 player.
Six or seven times a month the region offers the latest news and most interesting information from the heart of Pinzgau - from the current services and package deals to interviews with stars from the sports, music, and entertainment business. Since October 2007 Sebastian Kaufmann hosts the episodes. The voice of the region is always right in the centre of action. 'I was born in Zell am See and work for the radio for one and a half years now. The idea to produce a podcast about the region came most naturally', the host of the local radio station 'Welle 1' remembers. Since October he has produced almost 50 episodes for and about the region.
Audio information from one of the most renowned holiday destinations in Austria: Zell am See and Kaprun have been a trailblazer with their new online service once again. The tourism weblog at blog.zellamsee-kaprun.com is a true novelty, too, since no other holiday destination has come up with such a service before. The podcast is the logic and consequent further development of the region's e-marketing concept. In addition to the audio format, internet users can now enjoy videos about the region, too. At irregular intervals Sebastian Kaufmann can be found not only at the microphone but in front of the camera as well.
You can be looking forward to seeing many stars and starlets visiting Zell am See-Kaprun. Kaufmann was so lucky to be able to get celebrities like Wolfgang Ambros, Franz Klammer, Nadja Abd el Farrag, Hansi Hinterseer and the British pop band 'Suga Babes' for exciting interviews. 'For me the meeting with the 'Suga Babes' was a real highlight', the region's podcaster remembers. 'I enjoy listening to the girls' music in my leisure time. In Zell am See I got the chance to have a chat with them for half an hour.' A fact that cannot be taken for granted, since the popular girl group only stopped in the region for a short surprise visit.
But it is not only celebrities who get a chance to say something in the podcast of Zell am See-Kaprun. In 'Gondeltalk' ('A chat in the gondola') Kaufmann interviews holiday-makers and is surprised how frank and candid the passengers are: 'It is amazing how much fun the people have! Some of them keep digressing from the topics and start talking about their private life. But the feedback has always been every positive.' Österreich Werbung, the Austrian National Tourist Office, is impressed as well: 'A really beautiful way of combining authentic story-telling with an online dialogue via weblog.'
